Nika Sintič, 2. B

  1. INTRODUCTION

As a student of ITS I had an assignment to write a report on a trip to Istanbul. The purpose of this report is to present the trip in details and involve the other’s opinion and it will be up on our website to promote our school.

  1. THE PURPOSE OF THE ACTIVITY

On 11. 10. 2019 registered students of Jesenice Grammar School went on a trip to Istanbul. Six months before leaving, we signed up. The trip was organised by travel agency Oskar, from 11. 10. to 14. 10. 2019. The price was approximately 500€. Around 50 students decided to go, accompanied by four teachers, the guide from the agency and a local guide.

  1. ISTANBUL’S ACTIVITIES

DAY 1 – The trip lasted four days and already the first day we discovered and could feel the unknown Oriental sights and characteristics of the city. We saw the largest mosque in Istanbul, the Suleymaniye Mosque and were haggling on a Egyptian market, where you can get lost very quickly.

DAY 2 – The second day was even more excited, because it led us to the most famous mosque in Istanbul, Hagia Sophia. The antique cistern – submerged palace, Ottoman palace Topkapi and a boat ride to the Asian part of Istanbul were all in the program for this marvelous experience.

DAY 3 – The program for the third day in Istanbul included a boat ride on a Bosporus, the natural strait between Europe and Asia and feautres of 5000 shops in the covered market.

DAY 4 – The last day of the trip was very chill and not very strenuos, the Iron church and the seat of the Greek Orthodox Church were very interesting. In the evening we had a flight back to Slovenia.

  1. STUDENT’S OPINIONS

Most students agreed that the trip was very educational and excellent. They liked the programme, the sights and the local people who were very kindheartened. The Oriental throb of the whole city was wonderful.

  1. MY PERSONAL OPINION

In my opinion, the whole experience of Istanbul was a relaxation for our brain and it helped us forget the school responsibilities. I believe we all learned something new and returned with new information, as well as memories, which we created along the way.
